Season information

The Silver Blades Figure Skating Club annually partners with Kansas City Figure Skating Club to purchase Club Ice  so that our members are guaranteed ice time during the week. Club Ice runs from September  through May.

All skaters must have a signed contract or waiver & release form (punch card or walk-on skaters) and payment prior to skating a session. JoCo Club Ice can only accept check or cash payments at this time.

Club Ice FAQs

The Club Ice season runs from September through May. The specific start dates, blackout dates, and end dates vary from year to year. Signups for 2023/2024 Club Ice are Coming Soon.

Club Ice is time that is pre-purchased by both Silver Blades and Kansas City Figure Skating Clubs. This is done as a benefit to our skaters to ensure additional ice time is provided during KCIC’s peak season.

Unfortunately, not at this time. While we understand that credit cards are more convenient, because JoCo Club Ice is managed jointly by the two clubs at KCIC, it is not it’s own business entity and cannot be set up for credit card payments.

While a skater is welcome to use only half of a session, the cost is not pro-rated, so the full hour would still be charged. We encourage all of our skaters to arrive prior to the start of the session and make sure to check in with the ice monitor first to ensure they are able to get on the ice for the full hour. If a skater has a lesson for the last half of an hour and arrives late, their space may be given away as a “no show”, so that other skaters may have the opportunity use the ice.

Skaters who are U.S. Figure Skating members and Pre-Free Skate or higher may walk on as a guest one day during the club ice season. Out-of-town skaters who are going to be in the area for an extended stay and wish to use JoCo Club Ice for more than one day will need to contact a member of JoCo Club Ice committee to make arrangements during your visit. All guests must register and sign a release of liability form prior to skating on club ice.

Local skaters who are members of other area clubs (Line Creek, Heartland, St. Joseph, etc.) would need to join one of the KCIC clubs with an associate membership in order to continue skating beyond the one-day guest pass.

Guest coaches must show proof of U.S. Figure Skating Compliance, sign-in with the ice monitor, and pay a walk-on coaching fee of $5 per session.
